Rattlesnake

I decided today that I would create a new blog to display some of my favorite pictures. What better place to start than with my most recent wildlife shot?

I saw this rattlesnake when I was camping with the scouts. I first saw it as it was coiling up, just a foot or two away from where I was standing a few minutes earlier. He hadn't said a word.

So, I shot it. Then I shot it.

For those of you who like to know all the specifics, I shot this picture on f/11 at 1/60 at 200mm. Since I didn't have my tripod handy, I used the burst method to get 10 semi clear photos, and one crisp photo. Some simple color correcting techniques were used to reproduce the true colors of the snake and its surroundings.

This photo was taken on the west side of Utah lake.
